Q: How did you begin your career in cabinet design?
I’ve been designing living spaces for 31 years. My degree in Human Ecology focused on improving family well-being through the spaces they live in. That foundation continues to shape how I design — by creating environments that fit how people really live and feel in their homes.
Q: How do you guide customers through the design process?
I start with our Design Process Sheet and a conversation about who lives in the home and how they use the space. We discuss what works and what doesn’t, their needs for today and the future, and set an investment level. Throughout the project, I offer ideas and options so clients can make informed choices that fit their priorities.
Q: What do you enjoy most about bringing cabinet ideas to life?
Hearing how clients feel when a project is complete. When they say a feature made their kitchen feel uniquely theirs, it’s a reminder that the details we plan together really matter.
Q: Can you share a project you’re especially proud of?
I worked with a schoolteacher who was embarrassed to invite friends over because her kitchen was outdated. She didn’t think a remodel was possible within her budget. After several revisions, we created a beautiful, affordable design. When it was done, she hosted a kitchen-warming party for friends and family — that was a special moment.
Q: What’s one piece of advice you give every customer before starting a remodel?
Expect to feel a bit overwhelmed after our first meeting — that’s normal. The first conversation is about wants, needs, and the feeling you want to create. Selections aren’t final then; tastes evolve as you see options and explore ideas.

Q: How do you balance functionality and style?
By giving clients tools to make informed choices. We talk through pros and cons of each feature so function and style work together to fit their lifestyle.
Q: What small design detail makes a big difference?
Furniture-style moldings and architectural touches add a personal, custom feel without a big cost.
Q: What’s a common concern and how do you ease it?
Many people have never designed a kitchen before and don’t know what to expect. My Process Sheet walks them through each step — consultation, design, and ordering — so they know what’s coming and feel at ease.
Q: Which cabinet trend will stand the test of time?
Simple yet elegant layouts that keep everything organized. Clean lines, well-planned storage, and subtle architectural details create a timeless look that fits busy modern lifestyles.
