Personalize Your Space with Dura Supreme Cabinetry from Dunn Lumber

Creating custom cabinets in new homes or remodels can be more art than science. The Dunn Lumber Cabinet team is able to take new home build designs or renovation plans and create custom cabinet solutions that look beautiful and are tailored to homeowners’ specific needs with Dura Supreme cabinetry.

Duraspreme Cabinetry LogoFor several cabinet installations throughout Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin, that cabinet artistry means blending different design elements. For example, a customer recently asked Dawn Tiesman, a Cabinet Designer at our DeWitt, Iowa Spahn & Rose location, to come up with a cabinet design with a higher-end look and farmhouse feel with quality that would stand the test of time.

That gorgeous home and the cabinet design is featured on the Spahn & Rose Virtual Home Gallery, here.

“Dura Supreme checked all their boxes,” says Tiesman. “It offered the plywood box construction and some of the extra features to create the master bathroom vanity area she was after as well as the hair tool accessory pull out in the primary vanity. Dura Supreme also had a stain finish that was the perfect color match to their kitchen cabinetry.”

During the design process, Tiesman offered some suggestions that helped ensure the design had all the features the customers expected while still looking great. For example, by utilizing some stain selections to make cabinets in the bathrooms, laundry and kitchen match, Tiesman was able to upgrade internal features in the kitchen.

Another custom feature added in the design for the kitchen island was electrical outlets that face front. Tiesman created a design with wide, extended stiles on the face frames next to side panels, which allowed places to add outlets. While working with the customer on this project, the customers chose a classic door style and were able to amp up other aspects of stylish crown and height adjustments.

“I’m happy that the customers love it,” Tiesman said. “And the contractor doing the install said things went so smoothly!”

Along with custom cabinets in new homes, Tiesman has also relied on Dura Supreme in renovations. Recently, some customers were looking to remodel an early 1900s farmhouse. They wanted to make budget-smart choices in some of the less-used areas that didn’t require as many customizations.

“They wanted a farmhouse feel but with a touch of class, warmth, quality that would hold up to use and not break the bank,” Tiesman said.

Working with the client, Tiesman came up with a design that used Dura Supreme mirrors to create custom sliding barndoor-style medicine cabinets in the primary bathroom.

The design included choosing classic colors and door styles as a nod to the traditional, utilitarian farmhouse look. But the customer wanted a little additional flair, so custom features like elegant crown moulding, quarter-sawn white oak were added as well.

“The client was thrills and look for the results to be featured in a future Virtual Home Gallery,” Tiesman said.
